The Federal Government has confirmed that the final batch of Nigerians stranded in South Africa will arrive in the country on Wednesday, July 15, 2026, marking the conclusion of its latest evacuation exercise.

In a statement released on Tuesday, the spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Kimiebi Imomotimi Ebienfa, disclosed that 315 Nigerians are expected on the final evacuation flight, which will be operated by Air Peace.

According to the ministry, the aircraft is scheduled to leave South Africa at 1:30 a.m. and land at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA), Lagos, by approximately 6:30 a.m.

The returnees are among Nigerians who voluntarily registered to be evacuated following recent xenophobic attacks and growing security concerns in parts of South Africa.

The latest flight brings to a close a series of government-led evacuation operations aimed at assisting Nigerians who expressed a desire to return home amid the unrest. Before now, four separate evacuation flights had successfully transported hundreds of citizens back to Nigeria, with the most recent operation bringing home 40 returnees.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said the exercise reflects the Federal Government’s continued commitment to safeguarding the lives and welfare of Nigerians abroad, particularly during periods of crisis.

The ministry also commended Air Peace and every agency and stakeholder involved in the evacuation process for their support in ensuring the safe return of the affected citizens.
