Mark Angel’s Remarriage Sparks Online Debate Over Past Allegations

Comedian Mark Angel’s recent traditional wedding in Ikeduru, Imo State, has generated widespread reactions online, with renewed attention on claims previously made by his former wife, Amanda Jones.
The ceremony, held on Sunday, saw the skitmaker celebrate with family and friends as he formalised his union with a new partner. While many fans extended congratulations, others questioned his decision to move on without directly addressing past allegations in detail.
Much of the online discussion has shifted from the wedding itself to resurfaced accusations linked to his earlier marriage. In January, Jones publicly recounted issues from the relationship, including claims about inappropriate behaviour during their honeymoon, emotional neglect after the birth of their child, body-shaming, and repeated public embarrassment. She also alleged infidelity and manipulation, among other concerns.
Angel has not specifically responded to each of the claims, although he previously reflected on the breakdown of his marriage during an October 2023 appearance on the Teju Babyface Show, describing it as a regrettable phase and expressing hope that his daughter would not experience a similar relationship dynamic.
The comedian, whose Mark Angel Comedy platform became one of Africa’s most popular digital entertainment brands and helped launch young stars Emmanuella and Success, had earlier revealed that he had privately married and divorced.
His latest marriage has therefore drawn mixed reactions across social media, with some celebrating his new beginning while others continue to revisit unresolved concerns from his past relationship. Despite the controversy, reports indicate that the ceremony was well-attended and festive, with traditional customs such as the presentation of gifts, including a cow, observed.
