AEDC Announces Power Outage in Presidential Villa, Airport, Supreme Court and Other Abuja Areas

The Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) has confirmed a widespread power outage affecting several critical locations in the Federal Capital Territory, including the Presidential Villa, Supreme Court, and Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport.
In a notice issued on Saturday, the utility company attributed the disruption to a technical fault.
The affected areas span key government and commercial zones such as the State House, Supreme Court complex, Central Area, Garki districts (Areas 2, 3, 7 and 8), Asokoro, Lugbe, Maitama, and parts of Wuse, among others.
Diplomatic missions, hotels, and public institutions were also impacted, including embassies of the United States, United Kingdom, India, Pakistan, Egypt, Sudan, and the European Union delegation, as well as facilities like the National Hospital, National Planning Commission, and several government lodges.
Other affected locations include the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Airport Road, Air Force Base, River Park Estate, Customs and Immigration offices, and several residential communities across Abuja.
AEDC apologised to customers for the inconvenience, assuring that efforts are underway to restore supply.
The company said engineers from the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) are currently working to resolve the fault and restore electricity to the affected areas as quickly as possible.
“We regret the inconvenience this may cause and appreciate your patience and understanding,” AEDC stated.
