ADC Schedules National Convention for April 14, Ward Congresses to Commence April 7

African Democratic Congress (ADC) has announced April 14, 2026, as the date for its National Convention, with a series of congresses at ward, local government, and state levels set to begin from April 7 as part of preparations ahead of Nigeria’s 2027 general elections.

The party said the exercise is in line with its constitutional obligation to renew and strengthen leadership structures across all tiers of the organisation, beginning from polling units and wards, through local government and state chapters, and culminating in the National Convention.

In a statement jointly signed on Saturday by the party’s National Organising Secretary, Prince Chinwdu Idigo, and National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, the party released the approved timetable for the internal electoral process.

According to the schedule, polling unit and ward congresses will hold on Tuesday, April 7, 2026, while local government area congresses are slated for Thursday, April 9. State congresses will follow on Saturday, April 11, before the National Convention takes place on Tuesday, April 14.

The party urged members seeking to contest for vacant positions at the ward, local government, and state levels to obtain, complete, and submit nomination or expression of interest forms through its official platform within the stipulated timeframe.

ADC added that nomination forms and detailed guidelines are available on its official website and encouraged members nationwide to take active part in the process.

The statement further emphasised the need for all participants to adhere strictly to the party’s constitution, established guidelines, and democratic principles throughout the exercise.

“Forms and further information are available via the official ADC website,” the statement noted, while calling on members to ensure peaceful, transparent, and orderly conduct during the congresses.
