Funke Akindele Seals Partnership with MonieWorld After Record-Breaking Film Run

Award-winning actress and filmmaker Funke Akindele has announced a new partnership with MonieWorld, a product of Moniepoint Inc, following the commercial success of her latest cinema project.

The Nollywood powerhouse disclosed the collaboration in a statement, expressing enthusiasm about joining the fintech brand. She said the partnership aligns with her long-standing belief in growth built on hard work, credibility and service.

According to Akindele, MonieWorld’s mission of removing barriers created by distance resonates with her personal journey and storytelling focus. She noted that the collaboration reflects a shared commitment to supporting Nigerians in the diaspora as they build lives across borders while staying connected to home.

MonieWorld’s Chief Executive Officer, Ravi Jakhodia, described the actress as a symbol of ambition and consistency. He said her influence, from dominating the Nigerian box office to achieving milestones in the United Kingdom and Ireland, mirrors the platform’s goal of enabling seamless financial connections for Nigerians abroad.

Akindele’s growing global footprint comes on the heels of her 2025 blockbuster, Behind the Scenes, which surpassed ₦2 billion at the West African box office. The film also became the highest-grossing Nollywood title in the UK and Ireland.

Recognised as the most decorated individual in the history of the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA) with 10 wins, Akindele has continued to expand the commercial scale of African cinema. Her cumulative career earnings now exceed ₦4.7 billion, reinforcing her position as one of the industry’s most bankable figures.

With the new partnership, both Akindele and MonieWorld say they aim to drive progress for Nigerians navigating life across continents, blending entertainment influence with financial empowerment.
