
Vice President, Kashim Shettima has visited Nuku and Woro communities in Kaiama Local Government Area, Kwara State, to console residents affected by recent terrorist attacks that claimed multiple lives.
During the visit on Saturday, Shettima reaffirmed President Bola Tinubu’s commitment to restoring peace and stability in the affected areas, assuring residents that decisive security measures had already been taken. He revealed that a battalion of the Nigerian Army had been deployed to Kaiama to support ongoing efforts to eliminate insecurity in the state.
“We are here on behalf of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to commiserate with the people of Kaiama and Kwara State over the tragic attacks in Woro and Nuku. The February 3 incident was shocking”, Shettima said.
He added that the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) had been directed to collaborate with the Kwara State Emergency Management Agency to mobilize relief materials and support for the affected communities.
Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq praised the Federal Government’s swift response, noting that security forces were already on the ground. He confirmed that “Operation Savannah Shield is in motion” and called on Nigerians to continue praying for enhanced security nationwide.
Borno State Governor and Chairman of the North East Governors Forum, Babagana Umara Zulum, also extended condolences to the victims’ families and expressed optimism that such attacks would not recur.
Local authorities, including Kaiama Local Government Chairman Abdullahi Abubakar Danladi and the Emir of Kaiama, HRH Alhaji Mu’azu Shehu Omar, thanked President Tinubu and Vice President Shettima for their prompt intervention and the deployment of security operatives.
