Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has issued a strong warning to political appointees, urging them to resign if they cannot uphold the integrity and ethical standards expected of public office.
The caution comes in the wake of the resignation of the Commissioner for Transportation, Ibrahim Namadi Dala, who stepped down after reports linked him to the bail of a suspected drug offender.
Speaking during the 30th State Executive Council meeting on Wednesday, Governor Yusuf reiterated his administration’s zero tolerance for misconduct, corruption, and drug-related offences.
He emphasized that all public officials are accountable not only for their professional actions but also for their personal conduct.
“Let it be clear: we will not tolerate any conduct, official or private, that undermines the values we stand for,” he stated. “Every public official must be vigilant and responsible in their dealings. You are not only representing your office but the integrity of the entire administration.”
In a statement issued by his spokesperson, Sunusi Tofa, the governor warned that anyone found aiding or abetting criminal behavior will face legal consequences.
“If anyone among you feels they can no longer uphold the trust bestowed upon them, it is better to voluntarily resign rather than engage in actions that could tarnish the image of this government,” he declared.
Governor Yusuf reaffirmed his commitment to upholding accountability and intensifying the fight against drug abuse and other social vices threatening the fabric of the state.
