Saga honours late mother with N1 million donation to motherless children
The actor says his mother’s light still burns within him 11 years after her passing
Actor and producer Adeoluwa Okusaga, popularly known as Saga, has launched a heartfelt initiative in memory of his late mother, who passed away 11 years ago.
In a deeply emotional post on Instagram, the former Big Brother Naija housemate announced a plan to donate ₦100,000 each to 10 individuals who, like him, have lost their mothers. The gesture, he said, is a tribute to the woman who shaped his life and inspired his journey in the creative industry.
“11 years, gone by too fast,” Saga wrote. “I want to stand on a mountain and scream loudly, maybe somehow you’ll hear me say ‘I miss you!’”
While reflecting on her absence, he admitted to struggling with loneliness, unanswered questions, and moments of emotional turmoil. However, he credited his mother’s enduring influence for giving him the resilience to keep going.
“In all of this, all 11 years… I have never given up, just like you taught me,” he said. “The light you left in me still burns, Mum. It flickers sometimes, but it never went out.”
Now a budding actor and producer, Saga described his mother as the first person who saw and nurtured his creative potential. He expressed hope that she would be proud of the man he has become.
“I am all I am because of you,” he wrote. “I will always love you, my sweetheart. Continue to watch over me.”
To honour her memory, Saga called on young Nigerians who have lost their mothers to send a message explaining their situation, along with account details, for a chance to benefit from the donation.
“This economy is hard enough as it stands,” he added. “Tag anyone who might need this. Always and forever. Mum.”
