Dangote Refinery Adjusts Ex-Depot Petrol Price Upward to ₦880/Litre

In a move set to impact fuel prices nationwide, Dangote Petroleum Refinery has increased its ex-depot price of petrol to ₦880 per litre, up from the previous rate of ₦828, representing a ₦55 upward adjustment.

The revised pricing, confirmed through data from petroleumprice.ng—a daily product pricing tracker—and corroborated by a pro forma invoice issued by the refinery, is expected to ripple through the downstream market.

Industry stakeholders anticipate that the hike will push retail pump prices beyond ₦900 per litre, particularly in regions located far from major distribution hubs where transportation and logistics costs further inflate final retail prices.

This development marks the latest in a series of adjustments from Nigeria’s largest and newest refining facility as it navigates fluctuating input costs, logistics dynamics, and market forces.

The Dangote Refinery, which began supplying petrol earlier this year, plays an increasingly pivotal role in shaping Nigeria’s domestic fuel pricing landscape amid ongoing efforts to reduce reliance on imported petroleum products.

The price surge comes at a time when consumers are already grappling with inflationary pressures and high energy costs.

Market watchers note that unless downstream marketers absorb part of the cost—which is unlikely in the current economic climate—motorists and businesses should brace for another round of fuel price increases.
