Veteran Nigerian singer D’banj has stirred conversation online after excluding Wizkid from his list of top Nigerian artistes he’s currently listening to.
During a recent appearance on the Adesope Live Podcast, the Kokomaster was asked to name three artistes dominating his playlist. Without hesitation, D’banj named Rema, Davido, and Burna Boy—leaving out Wizkid, one of Afrobeats’ biggest global stars.
Explaining his choices, D’banj praised each artist for their unique qualities:
“Shout out to Rema. I love his energy,” he said.
“Then there’s this guy I love a lot and he loves me too—David. He hustles like he has no money. People should learn from how consistent and humble he is.”
“As for Burna Boy, he’s just too intentional. His live performances are incredible.”
D’banj’s comments have since sparked reactions online, with fans debating the absence of Wizkid from the list—especially given his longstanding influence on the Afrobeats scene.
