Police rescue two kidnap victims in Lagos

The Lagos State Police Command has announced the successful rescue of two individuals who were kidnapped last Thursday at Ijede Creekside in the Ikorodu area.

In a statement released on Monday in Lagos, the Command’s spokesperson, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, disclosed that the police responded swiftly to a distress call received around 10:00 p.m. on the night of the abduction.

“Upon receiving the alert, over 15 tactical police units including detectives, conventional officers, local vigilantes, hunters, and community members were immediately mobilised to the scene,” Hundeyin said.

He confirmed that two residents whose homes are located within the creek were attacked and abducted by unknown assailants who escaped through the creek and surrounding forest.

Following the directive of the State Commissioner of Police, Olohundare Jimoh, an extensive rescue operation was launched. Security personnel were strategically positioned to seal off all possible entry and exit routes around the creek and forest area.

The collaborative effort between the police, local vigilantes, hunters, and residents remains ongoing as they continue to sweep the area in search of the kidnappers, aiming to prevent further incidents and ensure justice is served.

CSP Hundeyin praised the courage and swift actions of all those involved in the rescue, particularly highlighting the challenges faced in accessing the remote terrain.

He reiterated the Command’s unwavering commitment to safeguarding lives and property across Lagos State, urging residents especially those in vulnerable locations like Ijede creek to stay alert and security conscious.

Hundeyin also encouraged the public to promptly report any suspicious activity to the nearest police station.
