Akpabio Moves to Delete Satirical Apology by Suspended Senator

Senate President Godswill Akpabio has petitioned the Federal High Court in Abuja to compel suspended Kogi Central Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan to delete a satirical apology video she posted on her social media platforms.

In the video, shared on April 27, Akpoti-Uduaghan mockingly “apologized” to Akpabio, stating she was “sorry for the crime of maintaining dignity and self-respect” and expressing regret for not allowing the Senate President to “have his way” with her.

Akpabio’s legal team, led by Senior Advocate of Nigeria Kehinde Ogunwumiju, argues that the post violates a court directive restraining both parties from making public comments about ongoing legal proceedings.

The legal action follows a series of disputes between the two senators, including Akpoti-Uduaghan’s suspension from the Senate after accusing Akpabio of sexual harassment—a claim he denies.

Akpoti-Uduaghan’s legal team contends that the satirical post did not breach any court order and was a form of protest against her suspension.

The court is expected to rule on the matter on May 12.
