The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has announced that it will host the first-quarter Capital Market Committee meeting on May 19 in Victoria Island, Lagos.
The meeting will focus on key topics such as the implementation of the Investments and Securities Act 2025, strategies for enhanced investor sensitization, and plans to drive capital market growth in alignment with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
In a statement released on Monday, the SEC outlined that the meeting will bring together a wide range of stakeholders within the Nigerian capital market, including capital market operators, trade groups, investment advisers, fund managers, portfolio managers, and custodians.
The objective of the meeting is to review the current regulatory landscape of the market and develop strategies aimed at attracting investment, improving market efficiency, and enhancing investor protection.
“The session will focus on critical issues affecting the market and ensure that these concerns are addressed comprehensively,” the SEC said.
In addition, the meeting will discuss the rise of unregistered investment schemes and explore ways to improve public awareness of legitimate capital market products.
Reports from technical committees, market infrastructure entities, and industry observers will be reviewed to guide discussions on emerging market trends and necessary regulatory reforms.
