Workers’ Day: Tinubu Reaffirms Commitment to Workers’ Welfare, Salutes Nigerian Workforce

President hails workers as “engine of the economy,” pledges continued support for their welfare and national development

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has reaffirmed his administration’s unwavering commitment to the welfare of Nigerian workers, describing them as the engine of the economy and essential to the country’s development.

In a Workers’ Day message posted on his verified X handle, @officialABAT, on Thursday, the president acknowledged the vital role of workers in sustaining Nigeria’s progress and pledged continued government support to improving their lives.

“Our administration has and will continue to prioritise workers’ welfare. Together, we will make Nigeria great again,” Tinubu stated.

He extended his goodwill to all Nigerian workers, regardless of sector, age, or role, celebrating the collective contribution of individuals in both public and private spheres.

“Here’s to everyone, young and old, entrepreneur or employee, private or government employed, whose meaningful contributions help in no small way to the development of our homes, communities, and our dear Nation,” he wrote.

Marking the 2025 International Workers’ Day, President Tinubu saluted the resilience and dedication of the Nigerian workforce, emphasising their central role in economic growth and national unity.

“You are the engine of our economy and the secret to our nation’s growth,” the president added.

His message comes at a time when the Federal Government is pursuing a broad range of reforms—including infrastructure development, job creation, and social intervention programmes—aimed at improving the living conditions of workers and ensuring inclusive national growth.

The president’s reaffirmation of commitment aligns with his Renewed Hope Agenda, which places a strong emphasis on labour-friendly policies and engagement with organised labour to shape a better future for Nigeria’s workforce.
