Zelensky Says No Agreement Reached With U.S. on Territory, Nuclear Plant

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has said that recent talks between U.S. and Ukrainian negotiating teams failed to produce agreement on key long-term issues, including territorial questions and the future of the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant, underscoring the sensitivity of the discussions surrounding an end to the war with Russia.

“We have not reached a consensus with the American side on the territory of the Donetsk region or on the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant,” Zelensky said.

He stressed that such complex and consequential matters should be addressed directly by national leaders rather than negotiators.

Zelensky added that Ukraine is open to a high-level meeting with the United States to resolve these sensitive issues, noting that territorial questions in particular require decisions at the leadership level.

He did not clarify whether such talks would involve Russian President Vladimir Putin, though he has repeatedly called for direct engagement with the Kremlin leader.
