Wumi Toriola Apologises to Afeez Owo, Emphasises Respect for Elders

Actress Wumi Toriola has explained her recent public apology to veteran actor Afeez Owo, stressing her commitment to cultural values and respect for elders.

The apology comes months after Wumi publicly criticised Afeez, who had described her film roles as reflective of her real-life personality. She had dismissed his remarks as “rubbish” and questioned the need to discuss such issues on podcasts.

However, during Odunlade Adekola’s movie premiere, Wumi publicly knelt before Afeez and said, “I’m sorry, sir. Please forgive me.”

In an Instagram post, she explained her decision, saying, “I chose to apologise to our legend because I am a true ambassador of culture, and even in anger, our elders should be off-limits. Our elders deserve calm waters, not raised voices. Once again, to our fans and friends, no more grudges. I have chosen peace.”

Wumi’s gesture highlights the importance of respect and reconciliation in the Nollywood industry, reinforcing her commitment to cultural norms and professional decorum.
