Wike’s Camp Hits Back as PDP Confirms Expulsions

The Wike-led camp, in response to the expulsion certificates, dismissed them as the work of “jesters”, according to Lere Olayinka, senior special assistant to the FCT minister.

“They are jesters performing for a clown from Bauchi, just to give him the impression of being a political champion”, Olayinka stated.

Earlier, the PDP issued expulsion certificates to former members expelled at the recent national convention in Ibadan, Oyo State. National Chairman Tanimu Turaki disclosed that the certificates have been sent to 11 individuals via courier, adding that the party will also issue formal disclaimers on the expelled members.

Speaking to journalists in Abuja after the formal handover of the former National Working Committee, Turaki explained that the decision was part of the party’s effort to solidify its position as the leading opposition.

Citing Nigerian law, which prohibits dual membership in political parties, he said: “Now that they are no longer members of our party, and following their expulsion by the National Convention—the highest decision-making organ of the PDP—we have issued certificates of expulsion. These certificates will serve as proof should they seek to join other parties, ensuring they are not accused of dual membership.”

Turaki emphasized that the certificates would also inform critical institutions, such as INEC and security agencies, that the individuals are no longer affiliated with the PDP.

“They have been expelled and remain expelled. The certificates have been sent to them. Very soon, the public will be formally informed via disclaimers that anyone choosing to do business with them does so at their own risk. They are no longer members of the People’s Democratic Party. We hope PDP members in Nigeria and the diaspora recognize that the party has removed the cankerworms hindering our progress.

“We are now ready to assume our role as the leading opposition party, providing credible leadership and a viable alternative for Nigerians, by the special grace of God from 2027″, he concluded.
