WHO to Facilitate Evacuations of Women and Children from Gaza Amid Health Crisis

The World Health Organization (WHO) has announced plans to evacuate up to 1,000 women and children in need of medical care from Gaza to Europe.
Head of WHO’s Europe branch Hans Kluge, confirmed that Israel is committed to facilitating these medical evacuations over the coming months, with support from the WHO and various European nations.
This announcement comes in the wake of UN reports accusing Israel of deliberately targeting healthcare facilities and medical personnel in Gaza, actions deemed “crimes against humanity.”
Kluge noted that the WHO has already facilitated 600 medical evacuations since the onset of the conflict in October 2023, and emphasized the importance of maintaining open dialogue to achieve such humanitarian efforts. He highlighted the dire health situation in Gaza, where an estimated 10,000 individuals require urgent medical care.
The statement follows reports of significant attacks on health facilities in conflict zones, with Kluge calling for international outrage against these violations and urging for the protection of healthcare workers in war-torn areas.
