We Moved to APC to Connect Delta with Abuja — Okowa

Former Delta State Governor Ifeanyi Okowa has explained that his decision to decamp to the All Progressives Congress (APC) was motivated by a desire to better align Delta State’s development efforts with the federal government.

Speaking to journalists, Okowa said the move was purely strategic and in the best interest of the state’s progress.

According to him, being part of the ruling party at the national level offers Delta State better access to federal resources, partnerships, and influence.

He dismissed claims that his defection was motivated by personal political survival, insisting that it was all about the “greater good of the Delta people.”

Okowa’s defection marks a significant realignment in Delta politics and could influence political dynamics in the South-South region ahead of the 2027 elections.

His move has been met with mixed reactions, with supporters praising his pragmatism and critics accusing him of political opportunism.
