Vice President Kashim Shettima has strongly condemned Friday night’s suicide bombing in Konduga Local Government Area of Borno State, calling it a “cowardly and barbaric act of terrorism” targeting innocent civilians.
The attack, which occurred at a local food joint, claimed multiple lives and left several others injured, drawing nationwide outrage and renewed calls for strengthened security in Nigeria’s northeast.
In a statement issued Saturday by his media aide, Stanley Nkwocha, the Vice President expressed deep sorrow over the tragedy and extended heartfelt condolences to the victims’ families and the people of Borno State.
“Our hearts are with those who lost loved ones in this horrific act of violence,” Shettima said. “The Federal Government will ensure that the perpetrators of this despicable crime are swiftly brought to justice.”
Shettima directed security and emergency response agencies to accelerate investigations and ensure immediate support for survivors and bereaved families.
He also reaffirmed the Tinubu administration’s unwavering resolve to secure the North-East and other vulnerable regions, warning that the government will not allow terrorist elements to derail the hard-won progress in the region.
“We remain committed to restoring lasting peace across Nigeria. These cowardly acts only strengthen our determination to eliminate terror in all its forms,” he added.
As Nigeria continues to grapple with security challenges, Friday’s attack serves as a stark reminder of the urgent need for vigilance, intelligence-led policing, and sustained community cooperation.
