A Washington-based organization, Ambassadors for Self Determination USA, has voiced concerns about the lack of a united stance from South-East Nigerian leaders on political and social issues affecting the region, particularly the imprisonment of Nnamdi Kanu, IPOB’s leader.
The group said regional political figures have not shown sufficient coordination or visibility in advocating for Kanu or addressing broader grievances, weakening efforts to influence federal policies. According to the statement, internal rivalries and competing political ambitions among local leaders have hampered a consistent regional strategy.
Highlighting ongoing unrest and economic disruptions in parts of the South-East, the organization urged residents to engage in peaceful civic actions and encouraged leaders to prioritize dialogue and accountability over political posturing.
The group emphasized that progress on self-determination and political inclusion requires internal unity and sustained civic engagement, rather than relying on outside interventions.
Ambassadors for Self Determination USA reiterated its commitment to lawful and non-violent advocacy aimed at fostering constructive solutions to long-standing regional issues.
