Tyson Fury Hints at Comeback, Sparks Fresh Speculation Over Anthony Joshua Superfight

Former world heavyweight champion Tyson Fury has reignited speculation of a return to the ring and a long-anticipated bout with fellow Brit Anthony Joshua after posting a cryptic video on social media.
The 36-year-old “Gypsy King” shared a 12-second clip showing himself back in the gym alongside his trainer SugarHill Steward. “Just in the gym. Bumped into someone you might know,” Fury said, before panning to Steward, who added, “You know what time it is.” Fury then looked into the camera and declared, “You know what’s coming.”
Fury had announced his retirement in January following back-to-back defeats to Oleksandr Usyk, but the post has sparked fresh doubts about the finality of his decision. Given his history of brief retirements, many boxing insiders had remained unconvinced that Fury’s exit from the sport was permanent.
Promoter Eddie Hearn, who represents Joshua, previously suggested Fury’s retirement may have been a strategic move to build hype—and value—around a future mega-fight.
Joshua, 35, is also on the comeback trail after undergoing surgery following his knockout loss to Daniel Dubois last September. He recently completed a rehabilitation stint in Nigeria and has resumed training, sharing a message of gratitude for the country’s “energy, generosity and kindness” as he prepares for his next fight.
A potential Fury-Joshua clash has been tentatively eyed for September, with Saudi boxing chief Turki Alalshikh reportedly eager to stage the blockbuster contest. The bout could generate over £170 million through broadcast deals, sponsorship, and ticketing.
With Hearn recently confirming that Joshua is entering what could be the final year of his career, the long-awaited showdown between Britain’s two heavyweight stars may finally be approaching reality.
