Turkish Envoy Alleges FETO Terrorist Network Operating Under Guise of Schools, Health Services in Nigeria

The Turkish government has raised alarm over alleged activities of the Fethullah Terrorist Organisation (FETO) in Nigeria, claiming the group is using educational and health institutions as fronts to further its operations.
Speaking during a recent diplomatic briefing, the Turkish Ambassador to Nigeria asserted that members of the FETO network — which Ankara holds responsible for the 2016 failed coup attempt in Turkey — have entrenched themselves in various sectors across Nigeria, particularly in private schools and medical services.
“These institutions are not what they seem,” the envoy said. “They are part of a broader, coordinated effort to spread FETO ideology under the radar, exploiting countries like Nigeria where they operate under the cover of humanitarian and educational work.”
The Turkish government continues to seek the closure of institutions allegedly linked to FETO globally, citing national security concerns. Nigeria remains among the countries where Ankara claims the group still maintains a presence.
The envoy urged Nigerian authorities to remain vigilant and intensify cooperation with Turkish intelligence counterparts in curbing the influence of groups accused of undermining constitutional order.
