Trump Acknowledges Foreknowledge of Israeli Strikes on Iran, Reaffirms Stance on Nuclear Nonproliferation
U.S. President Donald Trump confirmed in a recent Fox News interview that he had prior knowledge of Israel’s military operation against Iran, known as “Operation Rising Lion.”
The strikes, which occurred on June 13, 2025, targeted approximately 100 sites, including Iran’s nuclear and military infrastructure, and resulted in the deaths of several high-ranking Iranian officials, such as General Hossein Salami and Chief of Staff Mohammad Bagheri.
The 78- years-old, emphasized the United States’ unwavering commitment to preventing Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons, stating, “Iran cannot have a nuclear bomb, and we are hoping to get back to the negotiating table. We will see.”
His remarks underscore the ongoing tensions in the Middle East and the complexities of international diplomacy concerning Iran’s nuclear ambitions.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu defended the operation as a necessary measure to counter Iran’s advancing nuclear capabilities, noting that Iran possesses sufficient highly enriched uranium to produce multiple nuclear weapons.
The international community remains divided on the legitimacy and consequences of the strikes, with some nations expressing concern over the potential for escalating conflict in the region.
As the situation develops, global leaders continue to monitor the implications of these events on regional stability and international relations.
