Troops of Operation FANSAN YANMA, working alongside police operatives and community watch teams, have rescued six kidnapped children in Katsina State.
The incident occurred on Monday when armed men stormed Gidan Maga village in Malumfashi Local Government Area, attempting to abduct residents. Security forces swiftly engaged the attackers in a fierce gun duel, forcing them to abandon their captives and retreat into Naalma Forest.
The rescued children were identified as Abdulhakim Rilwanu, 12; Zinatu Mansir, 10; Ado Sani, 9; Sani Umar, 10; Yusuf Umar, 10; and Jamilu Nasiru, 11, all from the same community.
Authorities confirmed that the children were unharmed and have since been reunited with their families. Security personnel have continued combing Naalma Forest in pursuit of the fleeing suspects.
The successful rescue highlights the growing collaboration between security forces and local vigilantes in the fight against kidnapping and banditry in Katsina, one of Nigeria’s most affected states by armed attacks.
