Troops Eliminate Terrorists, Recover Weapons and Motorcycles in Yobe Offensive

Troops of the Operation Hadin Kai under the Headquarters Joint Task Force (North East) have intensified offensive operations across the theatre, recording major successes under Operation Desert Sanity V.

This was disclosed in a statement on Saturday by the Theatre Command’s Media Information Officer, Lt. Col. Sani Uba, who confirmed that several terrorists were neutralised during coordinated ground assaults in parts of Yobe State.

According to the statement, troops operating in Sector 2, in collaboration with the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF), carried out a successful night operation around Muktum and Ngirbuwa villages. The joint forces engaged and neutralised scores of terrorists during the raid.

“During the operation, troops recovered two AK-47 rifles, three motorcycles, and mobile phones from the scene,” Lt. Col. Uba stated.

He added that follow-up exploitation along the terrorists’ withdrawal route revealed drag marks and a freshly dug shallow grave, indicating that additional casualties may have been inflicted on the fleeing insurgents.

In a separate operation within Sector 1, troops intercepted and engaged suspected terrorists attempting to cross the Main Supply Route along the Bulayobe–Darel Jamel axis. The insurgents reportedly fled in disarray under sustained military pressure.

“The criminals abandoned two sacks containing assorted logistics items believed to be supplies for terrorist elements,” the statement noted.

The latest operations underscore the sustained momentum of ongoing counter-terrorism efforts in the North East, as troops continue to degrade insurgent capabilities and disrupt their supply networks across the region.
