Tragedy Strikes in Ibadan as Building Collapse Claims 10 Lives

A tragic building collapse in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, has resulted in the deaths of 10 individuals and left seven others injured.

The incident occurred early Thursday morning at approximately 2 AM in the Jegeda Olunloyo area of Ona Ara Local Government.

According to a statement from the Oyo State Fire Services Agency, rescue operations are ongoing. Emergency responders arrived at the scene after receiving a distressed call and discovered that 10 people had been recovered from the debris, while seven individuals were rescued alive.

General Manager of the Oyo State Fire Services, Yemi Akinyinka, confirmed the details, stating, “We received a distress call from the neighborhood at 2 AM. When we arrived, ten people had died outrightly. Three had already been recovered before our team got there, and our personnel managed to recover four more. They are still working at the site.”

As rescue efforts continue, the local community is left in shock over this devastating event. Further updates are expected as the situation develops.
