Toyin Abraham Condemns Oyo School Abductions, Demands Stronger Security Measures

Nollywood actress and filmmaker Toyin Abraham has expressed sadness over the recent abduction of teachers and schoolchildren in Oyo State, calling for urgent action to address worsening insecurity.

In a post shared on Instagram on Wednesday, the actress said she was heartbroken by the killings and kidnappings taking place in Oyo State and other parts of the country.

According to Abraham, the situation feels deeply personal because of her strong family and cultural connection to the state.

“My heart is deeply heavy over the painful killings and abductions happening in Oyo State and across different parts of Nigeria,” she wrote.

The actress sympathised with families affected by the attacks, especially parents whose children were abducted and communities thrown into mourning following recent violence in Oriire Local Government Area.

She stressed that no Nigerian should live in fear or worry about violence disrupting everyday life.

“No child should be afraid to go to school. No family should wake up to news of violence and bloodshed,” she stated.

Abraham also acknowledged the efforts of security agencies and the Oyo State Government but insisted that more decisive steps must be taken to secure the release of those still being held captive and to strengthen protection for vulnerable communities.

The actress further questioned what long-term measures are being implemented to prevent similar attacks in the future.

She called on Nigerians to remain united and compassionate during the crisis, warning against normalising violence and insecurity.

“We cannot normalise violence. We must continue to speak up, support one another and pray for peace to return to our land,” she added.

The statement follows reports that gunmen attacked schools in the Ahoro Esinele community within Oriire Local Government Area, where several pupils, students, and teachers were reportedly abducted from different institutions.
