President Bola Tinubu has approved the posting of four ambassador-designates from the list of 68 nominees confirmed by the Senate in December. The appointments cover key diplomatic missions, reflecting the administration’s effort to strengthen Nigeria’s bilateral relations and advance its foreign policy objectives.
Under the new postings, Ayodele Oke has been appointed Ambassador-designate to France, while Colonel Lateef Are will serve as Ambassador-designate to the United States.
Aminu Dalhatu, formerly Nigeria’s envoy to South Korea, has been redeployed as High Commissioner-designate to the United Kingdom.
Kebbi State former governor, Usman Isa Dakingari Suleiman has been named Ambassador-designate to Turkey, coinciding with preparations for President Tinubu’s scheduled state visit next week.
In a memo to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, President Tinubu directed the ministry to formally notify the governments of the four host countries in line with diplomatic protocols.
Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, said the postings mark the first tranche of ambassadorial deployments following Senate confirmations, with additional appointments expected in phases as arrangements for Nigeria’s diplomatic missions abroad are finalized.
