President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has directed the immediate commencement of all approved infrastructure projects across Nigeria, emphasizing the need for swift and efficient implementation.
This directive was announced at the 2025 Nigeria Public-Private Partnership (PPP) Summit in Abuja, themed “Unlocking Nigeria’s Potential: The Role of Public-Private Partnerships in Delivering the Renewed Hope Agenda.” The summit was organized by the Infrastructure Concession Regulatory Commission (ICRC).
Represented by Vice President Kashim Shettima, President Tinubu reiterated his administration’s commitment to delivering infrastructure that is both sustainable and inclusive.
He cautioned against delays caused by bureaucratic hurdles and emphasized the importance of fast-tracking approvals for viable projects.
The President highlighted the necessity for intensified coordination among Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) to ensure rapid implementation.
Acknowledging the challenges within Nigeria’s project implementation culture, President Tinubu stated, “Nigeria does not lack potential. What we have lacked, at times, is alignment of purpose and the courage to act decisively. Let us chart a new path, not just as government and investors, but as partners in nation-building.”
The President also declared that the traditional model of public-only infrastructure funding is no longer sustainable.
He emphasized the need for innovation and collaboration, stating, “Our national aspirations far exceed what public budgets alone can deliver. That is why we must innovate and work together.” He invited private sector stakeholders to view Nigeria as a land of opportunity, urging them to look beyond perceived risks and seize the potential for mutual growth.
In line with this vision, the administration has committed over N2.5 trillion to road infrastructure projects in 2025 alone.
Notable projects include the 700-kilometer Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway, which aims to enhance connectivity across eight states, and the Sokoto-Badagry Highway, a strategic route linking the Western and Northern parts of the country.
President Tinubu concluded by stating, “We must build. We must deliver. And we must do it together,” reaffirming the administration’s dedication to transforming Nigeria’s infrastructure landscape through effective public-private partnerships.
