Tinubu Laying Foundation for Next-Gen Leadership, Says Jandor

Former PDP candidate lauds President’s youth-focused vision during visit to APC’s Progressive Institute in Abuja.

Dr. Abdulazees Adediran, popularly known as Jandor and former Lagos State governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his clear commitment to empowering the next generation of leaders.

Adediran, who recently returned to the All Progressives Congress (APC), made the remark during his visit to the party’s policy and training hub, The Progressive Institute (TPI), in Abuja on Friday.

Reflecting on a prior meeting with the President, Adediran recalled Tinubu’s firm assurance of his desire to hand over the leadership baton to emerging political talents.

“When I had the opportunity to meet with Mr. President before officially announcing my return home, we spoke extensively,” he said. “One of the things that stood out for me was his readiness to pass on the baton to the next generation.”

He urged the APC leadership to rally behind Tinubu’s vision, stressing that supporting youth inclusion and building a pipeline of capable successors is vital for Nigeria’s long-term progress.

“The major problem we have in Nigeria today is not the structure of our economy—it’s a leadership problem,” Adediran added. “You don’t just want to be President. You want to create systems that recruit and prepare the next generation.”

Praising the initiative of the Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje-led National Working Committee (NWC) for establishing the Progressive Institute, Adediran described it as a “citadel for leadership recruitment” and a forward-thinking move in line with Tinubu’s agenda.

He also emphasized APC’s political strength, describing it as the only party in the country with consistent stability.

“Our decision to come back to the family is not far-fetched. If you look at all the political parties in Nigeria today, the only one with a semblance of stability is the APC.”

Earlier in the event, the Director-General of the Institute, Dr. Sani Adebayo, outlined plans to develop a strong ideological framework for the ruling party.

He noted that the Institute will focus on research in public policy, political party management, and governance while supporting the party’s leadership development agenda.
