Tinubu holds closed-door talks with security chiefs

President Bola Tinubu is currently presiding over a high-level security meeting with the nation’s service chiefs and the Inspector-General of Police at the State House in Abuja.

The closed-door session comes just before the President’s scheduled departure to Rome, where he will attend the inauguration mass of Pope Leo XIV, following a formal invitation from the Vatican.

In attendance are: General Christopher Musa, Chief of Defence Staff, Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede, Chief of Army Staff, Air Marshal Hassan Abubakar, Chief of Air Staff, Vice Admiral Emmanuel Ogalla, Chief of Naval Staff, IGP Kayode Egbetokun, Inspector-General of Police

Although the meeting’s agenda has not been officially disclosed, it is widely believed to focus on the recent spate of attacks on military installations and the escalating insecurity across various regions of the country.

The discussion is expected to include a comprehensive review of current security operations, an evaluation of the effectiveness of response strategies, and the formulation of a more coordinated approach to combat banditry, insurgency, and other violent crimes.

The outcome of the meeting may influence immediate and long-term security decisions as the administration intensifies efforts to restore peace and stability nationwide.
