Tinubu, Gov. Otti Hold Talks on Nnamdi Kanu

President Bola Tinubu on Tuesday met Abia Governor Alex Otti in Abuja as part of continuing efforts to secure the release of Nnamdi Kanu, the convicted leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).

The meeting follows Otti’s recent visit to Kanu at the Sokoto prison facility where the IPOB leader is serving his sentence.

Tuesday’s engagement with the president is believed to be a continuation of those efforts, as the Abia governor seeks a combination of political and legal pathways to resolve the long-running case.

Governor Otti has repeatedly stated that securing Kanu’s release remains a priority for his administration, revealing that an agreed strategy is already in motion.

“While Mazi Nnamdi Kanu is free to appeal his conviction, I am happy to inform you that I have activated, and will continue to work on, the already agreed strategy until his freedom is secured”, Otti said through his media aide.

The governor was accompanied on that visit by Kanu’s younger brother, Emmanuel Kanu, the Abia State Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Ikechukwu Uwanna (SAN), and his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Ferdinand Ekeoma.

Officials of the Sokoto State Government were also in attendance.
