Tinubu approves commencement of 2024 national honours award

President Bola Tinubu has officially authorized the initiation of the 2024 National Honours Award to recognize Nigerians and international friends who have significantly contributed to the country’s development.

Minister of Special Duties and Intergovernmental Affairs  Zaphaniah Jisalo, announced this during a meeting with the ministry’s management staff in Abuja.

Jisalo highlighted that the Nigerian Government aims to honor both Nigerians and foreigners who have achieved remarkable success in their respective fields.

The minister emphasized that the nomination process and award applications are completely free of charge. He warned the public against paying any fees for national honors and encouraged them to look out for announcements regarding nominations. According to Jisalo, individuals who have made noteworthy contributions to the nation are encouraged to be nominated.

This initiative aligns with the National Honours Award Act of 2004, which has been in effect retroactively since 1963.
