Three members of the Taraba State House of Assembly have defected to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), citing the developmental record of Governor Agbu Kefas as a driving force behind their move.
The defections were made public on Monday during plenary, when Speaker John Kizito Bonzena read letters submitted by the lawmakers.
Those who crossed over include Umar Adamu Abdullahi of Jalingo I Constituency (formerly NNPP), Zakaria Sanusi of Ibi Constituency (formerly NNPP), and Anas Shaibu of Karim II Constituency (formerly APGA).
In their letters, the lawmakers explained that the decision came after wide consultations with their constituents. They praised Governor Kefas for his leadership style and developmental projects, noting that joining the PDP would allow them to serve their communities more effectively.
While expressing gratitude to their former parties, they stressed that the defection would strengthen their capacity to deliver on legislative responsibilities.
Welcoming the new members, the Speaker assured them of the PDP’s full support and called for unity and collaboration in advancing the state’s development agenda.
The move further consolidates the PDP’s dominance in Taraba, strengthening its position ahead of future political contests.
