They Fear the Gospel in My Bars – Odumodublvck Fires Back at Critics”

Nigerian rapper Odumodublvck has broken his silence following a moment of controversy during the 2025 Headies Awards, where his microphone was abruptly cut off during his acceptance speech.

Taking to X (formerly Twitter) on April 29, 2025, the “Declan Rice” hitmaker addressed the incident with calm resolve, stating he holds no bitterness towards the award organizers.

“I was talking about Jesus, and they tried to shut me down. I’m a hundred percent sure that if I was speaking about His Excellency, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, I wouldn’t have been cut off,” he wrote. “I genuinely have no bad blood towards the Headies. In fact, I’m grateful they put my mic back on so I could spread the gospel. Jesus is King — yesterday, today, and forever.”

Odumodublvck had just clinched the prestigious Next Rated award, emerging victorious over fellow nominees Shallipopi, Qing Madi, Ayo Maff, and Nasboi. The award was handed to him by Afrobeats heavyweight Davido, a former recipient of the same honor in 2013.

During his acceptance speech, however, his microphone was unexpectedly muted—an action many speculated was due to time constraints. It was later turned back on, allowing him to complete his message.

Following his post, X users flooded the comment section, sparking conversation around the role of faith, censorship, and freedom of expression in public platforms.
