Terry G Declares He’ll Never Retire, Embraces “Upcoming Artist” Status
Afrobeats star Terry G responds to critics, insisting he’ll keep making music and chasing relevance.

Veteran Afrobeats star Gabriel Oche Amanyi, popularly known as Terry G, has vowed never to retire from music, insisting he would rather remain an active artist than quit.
The 39-year-old made the declaration in response to critics who accused him of chasing clout on social media.
On his X handle, Terry G wrote, “I fully embrace being seen as an upcoming artist. You only become a legend when you retire—and I’m never retiring. So if you catch me chasing clout, let me be.”
Terry G rose to prominence in the 2010s as a pioneer of the ghetto-leaning ‘Street-hop’ genre, with hits including Free Madness, Sangalo, Akpako Master, and Run Mad.
He is currently working on a comeback collaboration with Victony, titled Tanko, aiming to reestablish his presence in the Afrobeats scene.
