Taye Arimoro Rejects Industry Guilds’ Suspension, Plans Legal Action

Nollywood actor Taye Arimoro has dismissed the joint suspension issued against him by three major industry guilds, describing their statement as “inaccurate” and pledging to contest the decision through legal channels.
Arimoro’s suspension was announced by the Directors Guild of Nigeria (DGN), the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN), and the Association of Movie Producers (AMP) following their investigation into an alleged on-set altercation with producer and actress Peggy Ovire during the filming of Pieces of Love.
The dispute stemmed from an incident where Arimoro claimed he attempted to leave the location after his scheduled call time ended. According to him, Ovire allegedly blocked his vehicle, after which members of her team assaulted him and prevented his departure. He also demanded ₦100 million in damages, accusing Ovire of presenting a “grossly misleading” version of events.
Ovire, however, maintained that Arimoro was the aggressor and had acted unprofessionally on set.
In their ruling, the guilds directed Arimoro to issue a public apology to Ovire and the film’s director, release a corrected video detailing the actual sequence of events, and return to complete his scenes under supervised conditions.
Reacting to the announcement on Saturday, Arimoro insisted that the guilds’ statement misrepresented the incident.
“To be honest, the statement given doesn’t capture the facts of the matter in any way, shape, or form,” he wrote.
He added that his management and legal team are already reviewing the allegations, promising a detailed response.
“My management and legal team are aware of this, and I will provide a comprehensive response tomorrow. My legal team is also proceeding with the necessary action to address these unfounded claims,” he stated.
The controversy continues to generate public reactions as both parties prepare for the next phase of the dispute.
