Tacha Urges Nigerians to Stay and Build the Nation: “It’s Not Always Greener Abroad”
The media personality says Nigeria has untapped potential and warns against unrealistic expectations of life overseas.

Media personality and former reality TV star Natacha Akide, popularly known as Tacha, has urged Nigerians to resist the growing trend of relocating abroad in search of greener pastures.
Speaking in an interview with Outside the Box, Tacha encouraged citizens to stay in Nigeria and play active roles in shaping the nation’s future.
“Nigerians need to stay in Nigeria to check this country or to affect the change we want to see,” she said. “Even though living in London opened my eyes to many things, I still believe Nigeria is great.”
She argued that Nigeria already has existing systems and structures that can be strengthened to foster growth, adding that people often overestimate the ease of life abroad.
“People just feel, when I get to the UK, greener pastures. But if you have a working business or job, a car, and your own house here, it doesn’t make sense to sell everything and start over abroad,” she noted.
Tacha also highlighted the realities of relocation, warning that many who “japa” face loneliness and unexpected challenges.
“It’s not greener outside Nigeria than we all think it is. Even when you get there, you still have to work hard to get to the level you want. If you’re comfortable here, traveling or relocating really shouldn’t be an option,” she added.
The “Pepper Dem” ex-housemate concluded by expressing her deep love for Lagos, insisting that Nigerians should focus on uplifting the systems at home rather than abandoning them.
