President Tinubu awards players $100,000, national honours, and housing after 10th WAFCON title win.

Nigeria’s victorious Super Falcons on Monday officially presented the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) trophy to President Bola Tinubu at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.

The team, fresh off their thrilling 3-2 win over Morocco in the WAFCON 2025 final, was hosted at a special reception held in their honour. The event marked a historic moment, as the Super Falcons celebrated their record-extending 10th continental title—dubbed Mission X.

President Tinubu, visibly proud of the team’s achievement, conferred national honours on the players and coaching crew. Each team member received the title of Officer of the Order of the Niger (OON).

In addition to the national awards, Tinubu announced generous rewards:

  • The naira equivalent of $100,000 for each player
  • The naira equivalent of $50,000 for each member of the technical crew
  • Three-bedroom apartments allocated to all players and coaches
  • The gesture reflects the government’s appreciation for the team’s outstanding performance and commitment on the continental stage.

The Super Falcons’ triumph in Morocco has reignited national pride and positioned Nigeria once again at the summit of African women’s football. Their presentation of the trophy at the State House drew praise across the country as a symbol of resilience, unity, and excellence.
