Sunshine Stars head coach, Bobola Akinfolarin, has expressed satisfaction following his team’s first victory of the 2025-26 Nigeria National League (NNL) season.
Akinfolarin’s side secured a 2-0 win over Gateway FC at the Ondo State Sports Complex in Akure on Saturday, marking a positive start to their campaign. The young coach emphasized that the team remains focused on consistent improvement as the season progresses.
“We got relegated last season and we lost many of our players, so we are in a rebuilding process,” Akinfolarin told reporters. “This is a league competition; we still have many matches to play. So, game by game, we will be improving.”
The Sunshine Stars, who are currently working to bounce back from a challenging Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season, appear determined to restore their competitive edge under Akinfolarin’s guidance.
