Stakeholders Urge Governor Fubara to Caution Supporters Amid Rivers Crisis

Amid the ongoing political crisis in Rivers State, stakeholders and elder statesmen have called on Governor Siminalayi Fubara to rein in his supporters and douse rising political tension.

The calls come after fresh confrontations between factions loyal to Fubara and those aligned with his predecessor and current FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike.

The stakeholders, including community leaders and former public office holders, emphasized the need for maturity and dialogue, urging both sides to prioritize the peace and development of Rivers State.

They warned that the increasing rhetoric and street-level confrontations could spiral into full-blown violence if not checked.

Several groups have also criticized the governor for not publicly condemning inflammatory comments made by his loyalists.

They advised him to show leadership by promoting reconciliation and focusing on governance rather than political rivalry.

Governor Fubara has yet to issue an official statement in response to the appeal, but sources close to the state house say consultations with security agencies and religious leaders are ongoing.
