Sevilla have confirmed the termination of Kelechi Iheanacho’s contract, leaving the Nigerian forward as a free agent on transfer deadline day.
The LaLiga side announced the development in a brief statement on Monday, paving the way for the Super Eagles striker to secure a new club this summer.
According to Sky Sports, Scottish champions Celtic have emerged as frontrunners for his signature. The club recently sold Adam Idah to Swansea City for £6 million, and manager Brendan Rodgers is keen on reuniting with Iheanacho, whom he previously coached at Leicester City.
The 28-year-old could therefore continue his career in Scotland, while Celtic’s earlier attempt to sign Chelsea forward David Datro Fofana fell through, with the Ivorian now set for a loan move to Charlton.
