Flood-hit communities in Niger State receive aid as senator urges collective humanitarian support.

In response to the devastating floods that recently struck Mokwa in Niger State, Senator Sani Musa, Chairman of the Senate Committee on Finance, has donated ₦50 million and several trucks of food items to aid victims.

The donation, which includes staples such as rice, millet, and maize, aims to support the relief efforts of the Niger State Government and bring immediate assistance to displaced families.

In a statement released on Saturday from Abuja, Senator Musa, who represents Niger East Senatorial District, expressed deep sympathy for the affected communities and called for broader national support.

“This tragic disaster has claimed lives, displaced families, and disrupted livelihoods. I mourn with the families who lost loved ones and extend my heartfelt condolences to Governor Umaru Bago, the Etsu Nupe, and the resilient people of Mokwa,” Musa said.

He praised the swift response of Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago, emergency agencies, and local leaders, commending their tireless efforts to bring hope to the affected population.

“As a demonstration of my personal commitment, I am donating ₦50 million and trucks loaded with food supplies to support ongoing relief efforts.”

Musa also made a national appeal, urging corporate bodies, NGOs, and private citizens to assist in the humanitarian response:

“I call on fellow Nigerians, organizations, and institutions to rise to this urgent need. In moments like this, unity and compassion define us.”

He concluded with prayers for strength and healing for the victims, as well as divine guidance for the state’s leadership:

“May Almighty Allah (SWT) protect Mokwa’s people, comfort those who mourn, and restore peace and stability across the region.”
