In a dramatic turn of events, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has relocated its high-stakes caucus meeting to the Bauchi State Government Lodge in Abuja, following the unexpected sealing of its national secretariat by the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA).
Wadata Plaza, the PDP’s iconic headquarters, was shut down on Monday due to alleged non-payment of ground rent and tenancy fees—an action that sent ripples through the party’s leadership ranks and disrupted its pre-scheduled meetings.
Originally slated for 7:00 PM at the national secretariat, the caucus meeting was swiftly moved after party leaders were denied access to the premises.
The closure also scuttled a scheduled meeting of the party’s Board of Trustees (BoT), which was meant to precede the caucus gathering.
Sources within the party confirmed that the ongoing closed-door session at the Bauchi Lodge is focused on pressing internal matters, notably preparations for the National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting scheduled for Tuesday, May 27.
The sealing of Wadata Plaza by the FCTA is also expected to dominate discussions, given the potential implications for party operations and public perception.
The PDP caucus includes a constellation of political heavyweights: sitting governors, members of the National Assembly, former presidents and vice presidents, as well as key figures from the BoT.
Political observers are watching closely as the main opposition party grapples with both logistical disruptions and internal realignments ahead of what is expected to be a pivotal NEC session.
