Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has hailed the All Progressives Congress (APC)’s sweeping victory in Saturday’s local government elections as a win for all Lagosians, saying it demonstrates the people’s trust in the party’s leadership and commitment to grassroots development.
According to results reported by newsmen the APC secured all 57 chairmanship positions and won 375 out of 376 councillorship seats across the state.
In a statement on Sunday, Governor Sanwo-Olu congratulated the APC, its leaders, stakeholders, and supporters for what he described as a “resounding victory” across the 57 Local Government Areas (LGAs) and Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs).
“This outcome is a clear affirmation of the trust and confidence that the good people of Lagos have in the APC’s vision, leadership, and unwavering commitment to inclusive development at the grassroots,” he said.
While congratulating the newly elected chairmen and councillors, the governor reminded them that the responsibility of leadership begins now, urging them to govern with humility, transparency, and compassion.
He also acknowledged the efforts of aspirants who contested but did not emerge victorious, commending their courage and dedication, and calling for continued loyalty and unity within the party.
Governor Sanwo-Olu further lauded the Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission for conducting what he termed a peaceful and credible election, and expressed appreciation to security agencies for maintaining order throughout the process.
He assured Lagosians that his administration will continue working closely with the new local government officials to drive development and deliver on the promises of the APC at the grassroots level.
