Salah Shines as Egypt Seal 2026 World Cup Spot with 3-0 Win Over Djibouti

Egypt have officially secured their place at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, becoming the third African nation to qualify for the global showpiece.

The Pharaohs sealed their qualification with a 3-0 victory over Djibouti on Wednesday night in Casablanca, thanks to a brace from captain Mohamed Salah in a commanding performance.

The result gives Egypt an unassailable five-point lead in Group A with just one round of matches left to play.

Despite their dominance on the African stage, where they hold a record seven Africa Cup of Nations titles, the Pharaohs have found World Cup qualification more elusive, having reached the tournament only four times previously — in 1934, 1990, 2018, and now 2026.

With this qualification, Egypt join Morocco and Tunisia as the first three African teams to confirm their spots at next year’s World Cup.
