Rivers United have officially kicked off their preparations for the 2025/26 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season.
A total of 25 players reported for pre-season training under the supervision of newly appointed technical manager, Finidi George, at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium in Port Harcourt.
The returning players were warmly welcomed by Finidi and other members of the technical crew, setting the tone for what is expected to be an intense pre-season campaign.
As part of their buildup to the new season, Rivers United are scheduled to play a series of friendly matches.
The Port Harcourt-based club finished second in the NPFL last season, just behind Remo Stars, who claimed the title.
Having secured a top-two finish, Rivers United will represent Nigeria in the CAF Champions League, competing alongside league champions Remo Stars.
The upcoming 2025/26 NPFL season is set to begin on Friday, August 22, 2025.
