Rivers State Government Approves Payment of March Salaries for All Civil Servants and Pensioners

The Rivers State Government has approved the payment of March 2025 salaries for civil servants, public servants, pensioners, and even suspended political appointees.

This directive was issued by the Sole Administrator, Retired Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas, through a statement from the Secretary to the State Government, Ibibia Worika. The statement noted that the Accountant-General has been instructed to ensure the salaries are paid without delay.

The move comes in response to mounting concerns from labour unions, particularly the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), which had recently issued a warning of potential industrial action due to the delay in salary payments. The NLC had expressed that the continued withholding of wages could lead to a statewide shutdown of government activities.

This approval from the Rivers State Government is expected to ease tensions and resolve some of the issues raised by labour unions.

GOVERNMENT SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT

APPROVAL FOR PAYMENT OF MARCH SALARIES, 2025

In keeping with the undertaking made to the good people of Rivers State, I am pleased to inform you that the Sole Administrator of Rivers State, Vice Admiral (RTD) Ibok-Ete Ekwe Ibas CFR, has approved the payment of salaries for all civil servants in the Rivers State Civil Service, all public servants of the Rivers State Government, including pensioners, and all suspended political appointees, for the month of March, 2025.

The Administrator has further directed the Accountant-General to ensure that the payment for March salaries is remitted without any delay.
