Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has assured his supporters that victory is inevitable despite the ongoing political challenges in the state.
The governor made this declaration on Monday during the commissioning of the Government House Staff Quarters at Forces Avenue, opposite the Government House in Port Harcourt.
Governor Fubara reassured the immediate past council chairmen present at the event that there was no reason for concern, emphasizing that the struggles faced in the political landscape were part of the journey toward a greater future.
Opening his address with a powerful passage from the Holy Bible, Philippians 3:18-19, Fubara spoke about faith and resilience in the face of adversity. He read: “For many walk, of whom I have told you often, and now tell you even weeping, that they are the enemies of the cross of Christ: whose end is destruction, whose God is their belly, and whose glory is in their shame, who mind earthly things.”
He went on to declare, “Despite everything, victory is sure.” The governor emphasized that this battle was not merely about winning, but about standing firm in truth and fighting with courage and conviction.
Fubara also proclaimed the end of the era of deception in Rivers State, stating that the state is now determined to take full control of its future and destiny. With a sense of unwavering confidence, he added, “I am not afraid of anything. The worst that can happen is for me to leave office,” highlighting his resolve to stick to his principles regardless of the outcome.
Addressing the youth in attendance, the governor assured them that when the time is right, they would be provided with the guidance and direction they need.
In response to the recent Supreme Court ruling that nullified the local government elections and reinstated the Martin Amaewhule-led group, Governor Fubara emphasized that the future holds greater promise and potential.
He reaffirmed his commitment to completing his tenure with honor and integrity, ensuring that his actions and decisions are defensible and in the best interests of the people.
The governor further called for a counter-response to political propaganda, urging the public to focus on the tangible evidence of purposeful governance, such as the ongoing inauguration of various state projects.
These initiatives, including the newly commissioned staff quarters, were highlighted as part of his administration’s continued efforts to improve work efficiency for public servants in government offices.
Governor Fubara’s speech not only reassured his supporters but also sent a strong message of determination and unwavering commitment to Rivers State’s progress.
